A Psalm for Sunday
Text: Psalm 107:1. Theme: Being
thankful.
1 Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His
mercy endures forever.”
We can attend church today without fear of
harassment, arrest, torture, or death. So, we are better off than 3 billion
people in that regard.
We
have some money in the bank, for a rainy day.
Spare
change in our pockets.
Food
in the fridge.
Clothes
on our backs,
A
roof over our heads.
That makes us richer than 75% of this
world. Are you thankful and content?
1. I am content, until I start looking at new goods for sale.
2. I liked my car, until I see a brand-new car.
3. I am satisfied with my clothes, until I stroll by the shop’s windows.
4. I love my home, until I think of what it would be like to have a mansion.
5. I am satisfied with every area of my life, until I start comparing my life
with someone else’s life.
6. I feel like I have enough of everything, until I see someone who has more.
We should focus and look
at that we have! The secret of a happy life is not to get what you want but
to live with what you already have. Most of us spend our lives focussed
on what we “do not have” instead of thanking God for what “we do
have.”
Remember the song words:
Give thanks with a
grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He's given Jesus Christ, His
Son
And now let the weak
say, “I am strong”
Let the poor say, “I am rich”
Because of what the Lord has done for us
“Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His
mercy endures forever.”
