Adam 2.

Adam 2.

Bible Reading: Romans 5:12-19.

“For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners” Romans 5:19.

At the fall, Adam disobeyed God (Genesis 2:17; 3:6) and was sent away from the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:23). Adam was punished by had labour, toil and sweat. For Adam willingly sinned against God, 1 Timothy 2:14 “For Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression.” Adam sinned; Eve was deceived says the Word of the Lord.

Adam's sin was:

1. Instigated by Satan, Genesis 3:1-5.

2. Prompted by Eve, Genesis 3:6.

3. Done knowingly, 1 Timothy 2:14.

4. Resulted in broken fellowship with God, Genesis 3:8.

5. Brought under God's curse, Genesis 3:14-19.

1.    Adam and the Fall.

This tragic story explains the plight of humanity, the deterioration of his environment and the promise of better things to come.

1. How grand the favour.

Blessed with a God like image with infinite potential, exalted to be king of creation, enriched with a beautiful and productive paradise. Granted faculties that functioned to perfection and betrothed to a choice and kind female. What benefits!

2. How green the victim.

His lack of experience plus his love for Eve put him in a dilemma when she failed. She was his altar ego, his needed companion. How could he shop her how could he give her up! He opted for Eve, and lost favour with the Lord God. He defeated from his lofty estate. The immediate result was mental distress, he feared the Lord, he was taught to love! It was as though a light had been switched off.

Nakedness was his state before the Lord God, once concealed by a

halo of glory and innocence, now because of sin in a shameful problem.

Naked before God, so they tried to hide behind “aprons of leaves” of their own construction to avoid the presence of God.

Man stills tries to please God by their own sinful deeds. Conscience once dormant now torments them.

3. Look at the 7-fold effect of sin on Adam.

1. First, he “fell short of the glory of God” Romans 3:23. Both in brightness and behaviour.

2. Then he experienced chilling fear and was unable to face the One whose law he had broken.

3. Looking at his pitiful excuse he gave, he shows a lack of moral courage, a mental blindness, and a weakened will, he had gone to pieces by his words, “the woman you gave me.”

4. Add to this his loss of immortality (being barred from the tree of life), and the stimulating presence of God in his expulsion from the Garden of Eden.

5. We see the cost of breaking faith with the Almighty. He went down, dragging humanity with him.

6. Future mankind was to live a life with so many negatives from now on; no Eden, no Tree of Life; no evening walks with the Lord.

7. Destruction grew worse for sin slowly poisoned nature and mankind. When Adam fell all fell with him.

4. How gracious is the Lord.

God clothed the first couple with the skins of sacrificed animals (maybe lambs), teaching them that reconciliation could come only by the shedding of blood.

God did not abandon them completely but tabernacled at the gate of Eden, where they could meet with Him. The sword of justice was balanced by the quality of mercy, and the promise of a future redeemer.

Adam and Eve 1. Part two.

Adam and Eve 1. Part two.

Bible Reading: Genesis 1:26-30, 2:21-24.

“Let us make man in Our image” Genesis 1:26.

2. Eve the first woman.

“The rib which the Lord God has taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man” Genesis 2:22.

Eve was created of God as a “helper fit for Adam” Genesis 2:18. She was called “woman” because she was taken out of man (Genesis 2:23; 1 Cor. 11:8). She was deceived by the serpent (Genesis 3:1ff; 2 Cor. 11:3), and tempted Adam to eat the forbidden fruit (Genesis 3:6, 14). As a result God condemned her to bear children in pain (so she must have bore children without pain before the fall, to know the punishment of it), and to be ruled over by Adam her husband in the Lord (Genesis 3:16).

Adam then called her name Eve (Genesis 3:20), the mother of all living. (Women in marriage from then on, take up their husband’s name in marriage). Eve was the mother of Cain and Abel, Genesis 4:1-4, Seth Genesis 4:25, and many sons and daughters Genesis 5:4.

Who could describe the beauty of the first woman! No Venus de Milo could compare with the ravishing loveliness of Eve. When Adam first saw her, he cried out; “At last she’s come, part of me and wholly mine!”

He could not bear to be parted from her, even when she strayed from the right path, but that is a story yet to be unfolded.

1. Her making.

God gave Adam the first anaesthetic, then He removed one of Adam’s ribs to “build” (the first 6-million-dollar woman), a woman. The bone the Lord used was not taken from his head so that Eve should think for him, or from his hand, that she should slave for him, or from his foot, that she should do all his errands. But from a place nearest his heart that she should know and reflect his love.

One writer observes; “that if Adam was taken from the dust, Eve was dust retained (a dependent), yet one further removed from the earth.” Man, with his feet on the ground, woman with her head in the clouds. Does this explain the feelings of womanhood?

2. Her ministry.

A “help” mate, compatible to his nature and needs, as opposed to the animal creation. Genesis 2:20 “Adam gave names to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him.” The meaning of “helper,” gives the idea of girding. Eve was meant to undergird her mate, by moral support and equal effort.

3. Her Mistake.

Her curiosity led her to wonder alone to gaze on the forbidden tree. She was unaware of the evil force waiting to waylay her with skilful arguments and effective deception.

She was spellbound by Satan, who appeared in the form of a beautiful and talking serpent (you can note Satan was already in the tree of the knowledge of good and evil). She should have known that animals do not talk, but she was no match for “the craftiness of the devil” 2 Corinthians 11:3. “The wiles of the devil” Ephesians 6:11.

Her innocence was her undoing; the devil cast doubt on God’s Word “have God said?” She was not sure, for her knowledge was second hand via Adam her husband. Satan proceeds from sowing doubt to blacking the character of the Almighty, when he charged God of holding back benefits from the eating of the tree, “For you shall be like gods.”

This “being like god,” reflects the devil’s own ambition, character and corrupt nature as seen in Isaiah 14:12-15, verse 14 “I will be like the Most High.”

Eve fell for his charms. She saw that the tree was good for food (The lust of the flesh), and that it was pleasant to the eyes and a tree to be desired to make one wise (The pride of life), Genesis 3:6.

The sin “of the world” 1 John 2:16, filed her life, and she fell seduced.

4. Her promise of motherhood.

But God intervened, and Eve became the “mother of all living” and eventually of the promised Messiah Genesis 3:15 “He shall bruise your head.” Galatians 4:4 goes on to say, “But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law.”

Poor Eve, not a particularly good start to her life, and there is sadly more sadness ahead for her, in the death of her son. But out of her mistakes comes the hope of salvation for all mankind.

The Creation of Adam and Eve. Part two.

Creation in Six Days. Part six.

The Creation of Adam and Eve. Part two.

This verse tells us something tremendous. “So, God created man in his own image.” I want to submit to you that this is one of the great statements of the Word of God. I cannot consider of anything quite as wonderful as this. What does it mean? Well, man is like God, as a trinity, (body, soul, and spirit).

Immediately someone is going to say, “Oh, I know what you mean. You mean that man is physically and mentally and a spiritually being.” Yes, I believe that is true.

But, Paul, said in 1 Thessalonians 5:23, that very thing: “… And I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Although this is true, we will see when we get into the next chapter that it means more than that.

I think that it refers to the fact that man is a personality, and as a personality he is self-conscious, and he is one who makes his own decisions. He is a free moral agent. Apparently, that is the thing which is unique about mankind. I believe this is what is meant by God creating man in His own image.

“Male and female created he them.” These verses do not give to us the details of how man was created and how woman was created. We do not find that until we come to the second chapter. That is the reason that I say that God did not intend to give us all the details concerning the creation of this great universe that we are in or He would have given us another chapter relative to that.

But He offers no description other than He is the Creator. This puts us right back to the all-important truth which we find in the eleventh chapter of Hebrews: “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear” Hebrews 11:3.

Things we see today were made from things which did not even exist before. The creation was made from nothing. Evolution has never answered the question of how nothing becomes something. It always starts with a little of something, a little piece of seaweed, or with an animal up in a tree.

Our minds must have something to start with, but the Bible starts with nothing. God created! This is the tremendous revelation of this chapter.

Verse 28.

“And God blessed them, and God said unto them, “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moved upon the earth.”

We see here that God has given to this creature something unusual. First, He says to man, “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.” We will hear Him repeat that when He creates woman. God seems to be the One who introduced the two sexes to become one in union. God tells man to fill the earth by reproduction.

In fact, there are four methods that God has used to place mankind into this universe.

1. One was by direct creation, which produced Adam.

2. A second way was by indirect creation, which produced Eve (woman from man).

3. The third was by the virgin birth, and this was how Jesus Christ came into the human family.

4. The fourth way is by natural reproduction, and that is well known in our day.

God created this man in His image. God is the fundamentally personal Being, and in giving the man an immortal soul, He gave him also a true personality. Man has self-consciousness, he has the power of free choice, and he has a distinct moral responsibility. He is in the image of God.

Notice that He uses the word “replenish.” That is an interesting word and seems to indicate that this earth had been inhabited before by life. Whatever the life was, they had disappeared before man was created.

God also tells man to “subdue” the earth. “And have dominion” is God’s instruction to man. Adam was not just a gardener to cut the grass. Man was created to rule this earth.

Verse 29.

“And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.”

From this statement I assume that man was a vegetarian at first, and not until after the flood did man become a meat eater.

Verses 30-31.

“And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to everything that crept upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was particularly good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.”

Conclusion:

The Bible makes no attempt to prove that there is a God. Why not? Because God says in Psalm 14:1, “The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God.” The Bible is a Book written to reveal the spiritual, the redemptive truth, and that comes to us only by faith.

So, we have here the fact that God is the One who created. Note this fact, that “God” is mentioned here thirty-two times. In this first chapter of Genesis, we see the unity and power and personality of God. This is exactly what Paul wrote in Romans 1:20: “For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen.”

We looked at the Creation of Adam and Eve, found in Genesis 2:1-25. But by the start of Genesis 3 we see the Fall of Adam and Eve. Genesis 3:1-24.  Because, where there is the power to choose, there must be choices. Thus, God placed a tree in the middle of the Garden of Eden from which Adam and Eve were forbidden to eat.

They could have anything else they wanted except the fruit from that tree (Genesis 2:15-17). Here we see the first example of human temptation and the exercise of a person will making in a moral choice. Satan, disguised as a snake, enters the story at this point. Through his clever and seductive questions and arguments, he creates a strong desire for the forbidden fruit. Before they know it, they have indulged.

As a result, they are filled with fear and guilt (Genesis 3:10). Their innocence, their paradise and their personal relationship with God is lost. They pay a tremendous price for not trusting, believing, and obeying God. This is looked upon as the time when sin came into and upon the human family.

The Creation of Adam and Eve. Part one.

Creation in Six Days. Part six.

The Creation of Adam and Eve. Part one.

Bible Reading: Genesis 1:26-31.

26 Then God said, “Let Us make human beings in Our image, to be like Us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.”

27 So God created human beings in His own image. In the image of God, He created them; male and female He created them.

28 Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.”

29 Then God said, “Look! I have given you every seed-bearing plant throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food.

30 And I have given every green plant as food for all the wild animals, the birds in the sky, and the small animals that scurry along the ground—everything that has life.” And that is what happened.

31 Then God looked over all He had made, and He saw that it was very good! And evening passed and morning came, marking the sixth day.”

Day Six Continue – The Creation of Man, Genesis 1:26–31.

“And God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that crept upon the earth” Genesis 1:26.

The last stage in the progress of creation being now reached; God said, “Let us make man,” words which show the importance of the work to be done, the creation of a creature, who was to be God’s representative, clothed with authority and rule as visible head and monarch of the world.

The first question that arises is: How was man created? Note: the “hands on work of God in the creation of man,” God with His own hands formed man from the dust of the earth. The creation of the human species seems to be a real hands-on project for God.  For while He is seen standing back and speaking other created things into existence, when it comes to making man,

He gets His hands into the dirt, moulds his form and then breathes His breath into his nostrils, “Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person” Genesis 2:7. The word human comes from humus (of the earth).

In Genesis 1:26-27, we read that God created man in His own image, “Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.” So, God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God, he created them; male and female he created them.”

This indicates man’s ability to reason, to make moral and ethical choices, to emote, to communicate and create. This is the image of God in man. The God of Scripture is portrayed with personality.

Man was made to relate with, share with, communicate with and be in relationship with God. The narrative goes on to tell of the Garden of Eden where Adam was placed and of the work he was given to do (Genesis 2:8-17).

God had concluded each of His creation days by surveying what He had made and declaring it Good. However, as He observed Adam, He saw something that was missing and He declared, “It is not good for man to be alone” Genesis 2:18.

Finding no suitable companion for him, God caused him to go into a deep sleep, took one of his ribs and formed Eve (Genesis 2:21-25).

Adam called her Woman, meaning 'Out of man.' This section of the creation narrative ends with Adam and Eve joined in the union of husband and wife. In this we see the establishment of the oldest and most enduring agency of human society, marriage and the family.

The next chapter will tell us that. “And let them have dominion.” God gave him dominion over the earth, Adam had tremendous authority given to him. We will find out a little later that God says to him that he is to do certain things relative to this creation that God has given to him.

Verse 27.

“So, God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”

We have here just the simple fact of the creation of man. This is the third time we find the word bara, which means to create out of nothing. So, we see that man is created; he is something new. Bara is the same word that occurred in the first verse of Genesis: “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”

He created the physical universe. Then He created life: “And God created great whales, and every living creature that moved …” (Genesis 1:21).

Now we see that God created man: “So God created man in His own image.” God will give us the details of His creation of man in the next chapter and we can see from this that God has left out a great deal about the creation of the universe.

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth” is all the information He has given to us. God could have filled in the details, but He did not.  He will go into more detail about only one act of His creation, and that is His creation of man.

Do you know why? It is because this record was written for man; God wants him to know about his origin. It is as if God were saying, “I would like very much for you to pay attention to your own creation and not be guessing about the creation of the universe.”

End of part one, part two will follow.

Adam and Eve 1. Part one.

Adam and Eve 1. Part one.

Bible Reading: Genesis 1:26-30, 2:21-24.

“Let us make man in Our image” Genesis 1:26.

1. Adam the first man.

The name Adam was registered with “mankind,” a sense in which it occurs in the Old Testament some 500 times. The first man (Genesis 3:17) was placed in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 2:8). He was put there to work and watch over it. The first trade is a gardener; “to work it” is commonly used for labour. So, Adam was not to be idle.

At the fall, he disobeyed God (Genesis 2:17; 3:6) and was sent away from the Garden (Genesis 3:23). Adam was punished by hard labour, toil and sweat. The fig leaves and God’s coats of skin speaks of the warnings of colder weather and uncontrolled bushes and thistles.

Adam was 130 years old when Seth was born and he lived 800 years after this event, making him 930 years old at his death (Genesis 5:3-4). It is presumed that Adam had other children then the three mentioned in Genesis. Some give a date of 4004 B.C. for Adam. But no one knows for sure, only the Lord God.

Adam was formed out of the clay of the newly created earth and quickened by the breath of God into a living being. Adam was a man with existence, a being with existence. In him dust and deity met to form the noblest of God’s creatures.

God’s last and best work of creation, “and it was very good.” Adam was perfect, newly minted by the hand of God with God’s divine image stamped upon him. Man became body, soul, and spirit. This image was threefold; it included.

1. Rationality.

The practice of explaining the supernatural in religion in a way that is constant with reason, Job 32:8 “There is a spirit in man, and the breath of the Almighty gives him understanding.”

2. Righteousness.

A moral goodness: correctness of behaviour, Ecclesiastes 7:29 “This only I have found; that God made man upright.”

3. Responsibility.

Something which one is responsible, Genesis 2:16-17 “And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of the tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

This gives man the ability to think, to have power over moral behaviour, and freedom to choose good or evil. Adam was the apex of God’s creation; before him things were “good” Genesis

1:4, 10, 12,18,21,25.

But after him things were “very good” Genesis 1:31. For Adam was physically, mentally, and spiritually a “son of God,” Luke 3:38 “Adam, the son of God.”

In short Adam was a free spirit in judgement and grace; he towered above the world of nature; he was its lord, its king and it governor, he was complete in his manhood and rule, Psalm 8:38 “What is man? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, and crowned him with glory and honour, you have made him t have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet.”

Adam complete in form and function, yet capable of endless development, the mould of humanity, placed in a perfect environment. Adam in this perfect environment was given a pleasant occupation and a challenging task; granted a companion as himself, the beautiful Eve. Enjoying a radiant fellowship with his Maker. What more could a man want? What possibilities! What possibility for the future!

He did not have a past, but he had a wonderful present and a promising future. Around him lay beauty and order, above him shone the brightness and expanse, before him were the times of greatness and achievement.

BUT he lacked one thing, that was experience, and there lies the snag.

Perfect in qualities, but he was imperfect in realities, he had no tradition to guide him. No earthly monitor to instruct him. He was in these things a loner, a pioneer of life. Look out Adam! Danger lies ahead!

Naked before a Holy God

Naked before a Holy God

Text: Genesis 3:9-10.
“Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” - So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”

Adam found himself in his worst nightmare, “naked before God.” Many have had this type of nightmare, to be found “naked” in a public place. In other words to be “shamed” in public.
Adam was found before a Holy God both naked and ashamed. Why? Because of sin. You see, sin causes us to try to hide from God. Sin will also cause us to cover up.
“Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” So he (Adam) said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”
And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?”
Then the man (Adam) said, “The woman (Eve) whom You (God) gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.”
And the Lord God said to the woman (Eve), “What is this you have done?” The woman (Eve) said, “The serpent (The Devil, Satan, Lucifer) deceived me, and I ate.” Genesis 3:9-13.
Covering up your sin, may hide it from others but not from God. “Adam and his wife Eve hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.”
They tried to hide behind things:

1.    We try to blame others for our sin. The cover up!

That is why God has to expose and convict us when we when try to cover up. When God said “Where are you Adam?” It was not because God had no idea where Adam was. No! It was because God wanted Adam to know where He was. And because his sin had caused him to run, hide and cover up.
God must expose your covering up to bring you back into the place that you need to be in Him.
But instead of coming clean, Adam did what we all do; he began to blame others for his mistake. Verse 12 “Then the man (Adam) said, “The woman (Eve) whom You (God) gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.” Adam took it like a man. He blamed his wife, she’s the problem.” Then he went on to blame God, for giving him his wife. Adam is saying: “It is not my fault.”
Then God speaks to Eve. She again adds “It is not my fault either.” Verse 13 “And the Lord God said to the woman (Eve), “What is this you have done?” The woman (Eve) said, “The serpent (The Devil, Satan, Lucifer) deceived me, and I ate.”
Again the wrong doer (sinner says) “It is not my fault,” not only are we expert at passing off our responsibilities, but we like to pass off our blame as well. See, rather than dealing with the problem and changing, it is much easier to simply blame the problem on someone else!
1. The Devil made me do it! Are you saying “You will do anything the Devil tells you.”
2. My parents did not raise me right! Poor Mam and Dad, all those years of care and love wasted.
3. I have so much peer pressure! Don’t follow the crowd, be the leader of the pack that turns to God.
YOUR SIN will drive you to blame OTHERS! But the judgement of a Holy God is coming YOUR way!

2.    We try to blame our circumstances. The set up!

Maybe you are not blaming another person, maybe it is your circumstances, influences, or situation is to blame. I cannot help my violent temper, it is the way I was raised. We always want to point out why it is harder for us to do right. No one said righteousness was easy. That is why we needed the blood of Jesus in the first place and the Holy Spirit to keep going.
Alcoholism, drug addiction, etc. the world wants to label it as a disease. Yet, the blood of Jesus is the cure! Eve started it all, by standing in the wrong place, looking at the tree of “good and Evil.” Soon Adam was standing there with Eve, where God said not to eat of that tree, Adam made a personal choice to disobey God.

3.    Our sins have a cost to pay. The pay up!
“So the Lord God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all cattle, and more than every beast of the field; on your belly you shall go, and you shall eat dust all the days of your life.
And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.”
“To the woman He said: “I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; in pain you shall bring forth children; your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you.”
“Then to Adam He said, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying,
“You shall not eat of it': “Cursed is the ground for your sake; in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life. Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, and you shall eat the herb of the field. In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for dust you are, and to dust you shall return” Genesis 3:14-19.

As result of your Set Up, you’ll find yourself in the midst of a Cover Up to hide what you have done. But the day will surely come when it is time to Pay Up! Nothing in YOUR life’s actions, comes without an outcome. “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life” Galatians 6:7-8.

4.    The “way out” of wrongdoing (sin).

Thank God, that when you find yourself naked and ashamed before God (like Adam and Eve found themselves), there is a way out of it! For God provided a way of escape for us. Notice: God came seeking out Adam and Eve when they were hiding from Him, you need not hide from God, when you have sinned. If anything, that is the very time to come looking for God.
You will be tempted to hide from God. Maybe stay away from His Word and guidance. Staying away from Christians and church. When you are in the darkness and pain of sin, you need to be coming to the light.
After you have sinned, and God comes looking for you, just as He came looking for Adam and Eve, you will want to run because you will think that God has come to punish you.
But then God surprises you, as He surprised Adam and Eve. He surprises you by coming to you not to punish you, but to forgive. “But how can that be?” you wonder. “How can God forgive me, when I have not done anything to earn that forgiveness?”
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.
For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life” Romans 5:8-10.
I do not know about you, but I am glad that God sent His Son to pay the price and the penalty for my wrong doings (sin).

Conclusion:

You can shove off responsibility, push the blame on somebody else, you can even pass the buck, but you cannot pass the price of sin! Because the PRICE HAS BEEN PAID by God Himself, through His Son Jesus Christ.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved” John 3:16-17.
Today I want you to recognize the high price of your sin. Your sin will cost you. It will cost you in guilt, shame, and fear. There will also be a price to be paid by the other people in your life. Even the people you love the most. But instead of blaming others for your sin or trying to cover it up, you need to recognize God’s cure.
Come clean today. Acknowledge your sin, turn from it and turn to Jesus Christ. He shed His blood for you so that you can be forgiven right now.

The Adam’s family

Text: Romans 5:19.
“For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man's obedience many will be made righteous.”
“Therefore, just as through one-man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned. (For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come.
But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man's offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many.
And the gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned. For the judgment which came from one offense resulted in condemnation, but the free gift which came from many offenses resulted in justification.
For if by the one man's offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)
Therefore, as through one man's offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man's righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life.
For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man's obedience many will be made righteous.
Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” Romans 5:12-21.

I want to speak about the “Adam’s Family,” not the dark family that lived in a spooky old house, with Lurch the butler. But this family starts with a dark secret called sin. What a strange family the Adam’s family was, for they had it all, and yet gave it all away. We are part of this same Adam’s family! We continue in our heritage as we “lurch” through life, still allowing sin to “fester” within us. What a strange “thing” is this Adam’s family.
Very simple I am saying that by “one man” disobedience sin enter this world, and by the work of “one man” Christ the second Adam’s obedience, sin was dealt with once for all. Because we were all condemned by one we can all be saved by One. In Jesus the second Adam we gained 'much more' than we ever lost in Adam.

There are THREE things we can learn about the first Adam:
1.    He was a real man, verse 12.
“Therefore, just as through one-man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned” Romans 5:12.

Many today say the first three chapters of the Bible are symbolic in nature. Even many Christians today try to marry the Bible to evolution and billions of years in order not to be laughed at and say there was no real Adam and Eve, it is just a picture of our earliest ancestors and how we choose sin.
There had to be a real Adam, for our salvation depends upon it. According to our text, if one man, Adam, did not plunge us into sin, then one man, Jesus, could not save us from sin! “For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man's obedience many will be made righteous” Romans 5:19.
Why do people deny the existence of Adam? To do away with the existence of God!

Evolution: says man is evolving, moving from darkness into light. If today’s mankind is getting better based on the past, pity helps those that are coming after us. Evolution is a religion with no God.

Creation: says man is devolving, moving from light into darkness. All the evidence is there, just look around you. If there was no Adam, then there was no fall, no sin, and more so no need for a Saviour or a God.

2.    He was a ruined man, verse 12.
“Therefore, just as through one-man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned” Romans 5:12.
“Sin entered” the world. Satan tempted Eve by saying “has God said” just like the world does today; they doubt God's Word and the existence of God! Then the devil got Eve to add to God's Word by saying “we cannot eat the fruit or touch it!” Did God say they could not touch it? No! Every cult in the world starts by somebody adding to God's Word. Then Lucifer went on to deny God's Word by saying, “you shall not surely die!”
Eve was deceived, but Adam sinned with his eyes wide open. He knew he was disobeying, and that is why he gets credited with the fall, in the garden, God came looking for Adam.

3.    He was a representative for man, verses 12-14.
“Therefore, just as through one-man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned. (For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come” Romans 5:12-14.

How do we know we are all racially related to Adam? Because we look and act like him. Adam sin was passed down to his son, and then to his son, then to his son, etc. until sin was passed down to you and me.

We inherit from our father:

Death, “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned. (For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come” Romans 5:12-14.
Other than by the rapture none of us are getting out of this world alive. We all fight it, and we all will eventually lose.

Sin nature, “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned. Romans 5:12.
This is why we have to teach our children to tell the truth, and not to lie, to share, and not to be selfish, to obey, and not to disobey, to control their temper, and not to lose it. Anything that is wrong comes naturally because of the sin nature.  We are not sinners because we commit sins; we commit sins because we are sinners!
Here is the downward spiral of sin in Romans 5:
Verse 12 “Sin entered.”
Verse 20 “Sin abounded.”
Verse 21 “Sin reigned.”

Here is a simple example: a man takes a drink, the drink needs another drink, and the drink finally takes the man.

CONCLUSION:

We have seen a family portrait of the Adam’s Family. Death reigns, sin abounds, and judgment is coming. We get all of this through Adam, but there is salvation found in the second Adam Christ Jesus. Are you in Adam or in Christ? We began in Adam by virtue of our birth, so we need a rebirth to know Christ and to share His nature.
