Mother’s Day Message.

 Mother’s Day Message.

Exodus 2:2. = The Marks of a Great Mother.
“And the woman conceived and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.”
Today I will be speaking to ladies who are mothers, and future mothers. Every child needs a good mother. Would that all of us could be grateful to God for a good mother. We need to look at the virtues that present mothers and future mothers would do well to seek.
Jochebed, the mother of Moses, possessed many of the marks of goodness and greatness that are needed by mothers today.
I. Jochebed (“The Lord Is Glorious”) had a good husband.
He was of the tribe of Levi (Exodus 6:20). We can assume that he shared the same faith, ideals, and hopes as did his wife. Every woman needs a Christian husband.
A. Many women find their greatest opponent to the proper rearing of children in the father of their children.
B. The husband can and should help his wife to be a great mother.
2. Seemingly Jochebed recognized parenthood as a glorious responsibility.
A. She was willing to disobey a king to preserve the life of her child.
B. She risked her own life.
C. Hers was the joy of creation and preservation.
D. Motherhood for her was a service to God and to her nation in a time when both needed what only good mothers could do.
3. Jochebed was a woman of vision.
“He (Moses) was a goodly child” Exodus 2:2. Acts 7:20 tells us that he was exceedingly fair. Hebrews 11:23 tells us that “he was a proper child.”
A. She had prophetic insight.
B. She saw the possibilities of a life.
1. For her nation.
2. For her God.
3. For future generations.
C. She recognized that the baby was designated for spiritual purposes. She determined to cooperate with the purpose of God for her child.
4. She was a mother of faith (Hebrews 11:23).
A. Faith in God.
B. Faith in herself under God.
C. Faith in her child.
5. She was a mother of courage and sacrifice.
A. She would not accept defeat.
B. She wanted to do all in her power to meet the need of the hour.
6. She was more than just a parent; she was a teacher for God.
A. Children need more than the material things of life.
B. Children need to have the inspiration and guidance of things spiritual.
1. She taught Moses the truth about God.
2. She pictured for Moses the heroes of the faith.
3. She taught Moses to be concerned toward the unfortunate.
4. She taught Moses to be intolerant toward injustice.
5. She taught Moses about the God of Israel.
Conclusion:
Every child needs a genuine Christian mother, one who knows, loves, worships, and serves God. No one can give your child a Christian mother except you!
Determine to let God help you and cooperate fully with Him as He works in your mind and heart that your children might have the best possible mother.
Husbands, your wife must have a Christian husband who is understanding and cooperative if she is to be the kind of Mother God wants her to be. With God’s power you can help your wife provide your children with the kind of mother they need.
If you have not already received Jesus Christ into your heart, do so today so that He might dwell in your home and bless your children through you.
There are many things you are unable to provide for your children, but with God’s help you can give them a Christian family.
