THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.

THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.

Text: 1 CORINTHIANS 12:1-11.

THE THREE GIFTS OF INSPIRATION.

1ST GROUP OF NINE: TONGUES, INTERPRETATION, AND PROPHECY.

2. THE GIFT OF: INTERPRETATION OF TONGUES. VERSE 10.
“To another, the interpretation of tongues.”
To explain, to give the meaning.

When, a “message in tongues” is given in a PUBLIC meeting, it should be followed by an “interpretation,” to give the meaning of the “message in tongues,” (which is not unlike prophecy, when the Lord speaks direct to us, through the gift). So:
1. First the message in tongues.
2. And then the interpretation, of the message.

Tongues, by them self, edifies ourselves in our private worship. When tongues are used, we speak to God.
Yet, by the interpretation, all are edified. When interpretation is used, God speaks to us. For interpretation, brings strength, encouragement, and comfort to the saints.
Concerning: tongues and interpretation, in their use in PUBLIC meetings. The “gift of tongues” twice, at the most three times, yet, let them keep silent, if there is no interpreter present.
We need to take close attention to 1 Corinthians 14:27-28. “If anyone speaks in a tongue, let there be two or at the most three, each in turn, and let one interpret. But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in church, and let him speak to himself and to God. Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge.”
For the Holy Spirit, is not a confuser, so we need to wait upon our gifts, and to let the Holy Spirit rule our use of the gifts. Or, as 1 Corinthians 14:13 says, “Therefore let him who speaks in a tongue pray that HE may interpret.”
For ALL the “gifts of the Spirit” are not for self, but for the edifying of the Church. So we must take care that ALL are used in order.
How does it come? Your spirit will have a great urge, a sort of bubbling up, so that will want to bust forth in worship, praise, etc. Then speak forth in faith.
So be FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT. Seek the Lord for the “gift of interpretation of tongues.”
