THE TEMPLE OF SOLOMON.
The Temple in the Bible was built in 960 BC by King Solomon. We are going to spend some time looking at the Temple. But, to understand the Temple’s purpose, it is important to know that made the world and set the rules of living.
God told Adam (the first man, and Eve the first woman) that the result of sin (wrong doing, breaking God’s laws) was death. Adam and Eve disobeyed, and sin, disease, and death entered God’s perfect world. In spite of this, God loved His people and had mercy on them.
God still loves us today, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” John 3:16. Even though man sinned, God found a way out for mankind; it came by God’s only begotten Son coming to take our sin, death and punishment upon Himself, by His own death in our place on a Cross.
Before Jesus’ death and resurrection, God provided a way to atone (make amends) for sin (wrong doing), so that people could be in His holy presence. God allowed the blood of a perfect animal to “temporarily” take the place of the sinner’s (one who commits sin).
The blood sacrifice took away sin and made the sinner right with God “temporarily.” What God was looking for was a “perfect man” to take the place of “all mankind” BUT, no one was found. So God came Himself in the person of Jesus Christ.
Jesus came to atone, or take away, a believer’s “sin once and for all.” The blood of Jesus Christ was the final sacrifice needed. Read for yourself: Genesis 2:17; 4:3-7; Isaiah 59:2; Romans 3:23; Hebrews 10:26-31.
We are going to study the steps to peace with God during the time of the Temple (Then) and today (Now). Here is the 1st step.
